The Ultimate Motto: Be Prepared!

Be PreparedKeep Calm and Be Prepared!

In this post, I would like to offer some free advice to my friends.  This topic has really been on my mind lately and I think there is more to it than just hobby interest.  I think the world as we know it is changing rapidly and the advice to get prepared has never been more applicable than it is right now.  In fact, I believe that this is the ultimate motto: Be Prepared!

Below, I will offer a few points of advice.  I feel confident that this advice, if followed, can help most people navigate through the complexities of life and the adversity that life inevitably brings to us all.

What skills do you have and what skills would you like to develop.  I encourage you to set aside some time every single day to develop your skills.  Many of your skills will come in handy during emergencies.  You will find that you can use them as a resource to help yourself, your family, your friends and your community.

Provident Living

Provident living is bigger than this one point, but this one point is certainly worth mentioning.  Are we thrifty and conscientious about how we spend our money and our time?  It is wise to practice thrift before emergencies force thrift upon us.

Experience has shown me that having some food, cash and fuel set aside is a very wise way to prepare.  I have had unforeseen financial hardship that would have caused me serious stress if it weren’t for my food reserves and my cash reserves.

Having reserves on hand becomes even more critical when emergencies are large in scope.  If the whole community, or whole nation, is suffering together, those who are prepared with reserves will fair much better than those who are not.

True to Your Faith

Do you believe in God?  Then live according to that belief.  This is the most critical aspect of preparation.  Integrity of heart is the thing that gives survivors the assurance they need during hardship.  It is a protection against doubt and despair.  It serves to set aside spiritual reserves of faith that you will need during the hard times.

Charitable Giving

Charitable giving is so important.  Not only does it show our love for God and for our fellow human beings, it also prepares us for the jading effect of catastrophe.  When all others are cursing God and wishing for death, you can be praising God and performing selfless service for others.  Be a part of the solution.

In Sum

It doesn’t take the ability to see the future to know that serious problems are here and that even more serious problems are around the corner.  Yet, many of us are marching on like we were in the best of times, like there isn’t a care in the world.  It is wise counsel to have a supply of food and be debt-free.  Yet many have a great supply of debt and are food-free.  It is time to alter course.  It is time to get real.  It is time to be prepared.
